NEW!!! North American Stallion Testing

North American Stallion Testing Beggining with the 2018 Inspections

Sequence of Events

2 ½ year-old stallions attend a regular inspection and need to be entered in category 16.

The Inspection Jury will either:

 A) Invite the stallion to send videos to the KFPS Stallion Testing Committee, or

 B) the stallion is judged with no further instruction.

If videos are requested of the stallion, the owner will receive further instructions about these videos and a request will be made to have the stallion’s semen tested and x-rays taken. This Inspection counts as viewing 1, 2 and 3 of the stallion.

Three videos are recorded one month apart in the months of June, July and August of the following year.

After the first two video submissions to the KFPS Stallion Testing Jury, the committee will:

A) Ask the owner to bring him back next year,

B) decline any further action toward the stallion participating in breeding-stallion testing, or

C) give feed back about the stallion, and request the next video.

The semen and x-ray results should be sent to the Stallion Testing Committee for approval.

After the third video, the KFPS Stallion Testing Committee will:

A) Invite the stallion to the 70-day test,

B) ask the owner to bring him back next year, or

C) decline any further action toward the stallion participating in breeding-stallion testing.

The KFPS Stallion Testing Jury will examine the stallion and will:

A) Invite the stallion to participate in the 70-day test,

B) ask the owner to bring him back next year, or

C) decline any further action toward the stallion participating in the breeding-stallion testing.

Upon arrival at the 70-day test the stallions will receive a star.

3 year old stallions can still be seen as part of category 17 and can still receive a ster predicate at the local inspections.  These horses can still be reviewed as a perspective stallion candidate.  This new process is to identify potential stallion candidates sooner.
