OLOF 315 POSTHUMOUSLY DECLARED PREFERENT

Olof 315 was born at Theo Jansen’s Stud Koningsland in Elst in 1988. His dam is Wieneke Star (Lammert 260); his sire is Reitse 272 (Hearke 254). In 1985 Theo Jansen bought filly Jeth (Tjimme 275) together with her dam Wieneke from Frits Hoogveld in Valburg. Son Marc Jansen: ‘According to my father Hearke 254 sired good-looking horses with strong movement. He saw Frits de Jong with Hearke 254 son Reitse 272 in front of the sjees and that prompted him to pair Reitse 272 to his mare Wieneke.
At the age of two Olof 315 came into the possession of Frits de Jong who presented him at the Stallion Inspection. Harm Mulder: Olof 315 was a not overly tall horse with easy movement. Movement was also omnipresent in Olof 315’s dam line. The entire pedigree 43 consists of utility horses that love the work.’
Because of his Oege/Wessel-free lineage Olof 315 could be widely used on mares. Frits de Jong: ‘All his offspring are noted for their youthfulness and strong hind leg. His only weakness was his short foreleg, which he also passed on to his offspring.’

Tendon injury
Hester Klompmaker progressed through the ranks with Olof 315 up to Z dressage. De Jong himself competed him in the honorary classes of show driving, but his sport career was stopped short abruptly. ‘We took him to Utrecht because of a tendon injury. When being given orthopaedic irons one nail was driven into the live tissues within the hoof. Two days later Olof 315 was limping on three legs and had developed a high fever. He never became his old self and was lame ever after. In May 2011 we had no choice but to have him put to sleep because he could no longer stand on account of the arthrosis.’
Olof 315 has been of invaluable significance for the development of the Friesian breed. A stunning 23 daughters have become Preferent with some of them also rising to Performance. From the Olof 315 sons one stallion was approved: the now 23-year-old Jasper 366.
