Brend 413 Arrives at Iron Spring Farm
July 28, 2008
-The eight-year-old KFPS stallion Brend 413 has arrived at Iron Spring Farm. The handsome black stallion has already been a winner in both the dressage ring and in the breeding shed. Brend has successfully competed through the ZZ levels in the national dressage competitions in the Netherlands and earned his Sport Predicate. With 45% Ster offspring, Brend's sons and daughters have already earned him the designation "Approved on Offspring", a prestigious recognition within the Friesian breed. Among the highlights is his daughter Nienke Res, owned by the Rispens. This lovely mare earned an 85.5 at the ABFP testing and received First Premium. "We are very excited that Brend is joining the Iron Spring Farm family," says owner Mary Alice Malone. "We are looking forward to continuing both his performance and breeding careers." Brend is a very modern Friesian, displaying three quality gaits with excellent swing and elasticity. He has resumed his riding and training program now that he has passed quarantine. He will be available for breeding in 2009. Brend has impressive bloodlines. His sire, Brandus 345, is a son of Reitse 272. Brandus 345 was Champion of the1997 and 1998 inspections and reserve champion in 1999 and 2003. In 1999, Brandus also earned Champion with the Friesian Sjees (gig) and Champion in the Honorary class. He also competed through the ZZ level in dressage and is the sire of four Approved Stallions. Mary Alice continues, "Brandus is known for producing beautiful horses with great movement and fabulous character. Brend has inherited these traits from his sire and is passing them along to his offspring." Brend's mother line is equally impressive. From Stam 34, Brend's dam is the Ster mare Meta van Strubbenhof by the Peke 268 son Doeke.
