American Bred Doaitsen 420 makes 2009 Reserve Champion Stallion in Leeuwarden, Netherlands!

Congratulations are in order for Klaas and Mares Vanderploeg of Ithaca Michigan! Doaitsen 420, bred by Vanderploeg Friesians in Ithaca, Michigan, took the Reserve Champion Stallion award at the Annual Stallion Show in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, January 10th, 2009.
There were over 9000 people in attendance, as well as the event being live over the internet via www.filmloop.nl . The crowd went wild when Doaitsen made his final passes around the arena, and it was an exciting moment for both the Champion Maurus 441, and for Doaitsen 420 as Reserve Champion over all the stallions. Klaas and Mares Vanderploeg were welcomed into the arena to accept flowers and ribbons, and stood proudly next to Doaitsen as the Dutch National Anthem played. It was quite emotional for all who recognized what an incredible moment in time this was for the Vanderploegs and for the United States of America. This is an amazing accomplishment for any stallion owner or breeder, and to have this exceptional stallion be born and raised in the United States is very exciting news for FHANA Members!
